Ashley D. Belleview, FLJuly 2, 2009 It costs about forty dollars to fill up my gas tank. Thanks to this, there are days when I have had to choose between gas and lunch. Of course, the gas is needed, because either way I need transportation, and we have no mass transit system around here. I live half an hour away from where I attend college. If gas were even just a few cents cheaper a gallon life would be so much easier...

Gary H. Cuyahoga Falls, OHJuly 1, 2009 I drive 260 miles a day on my job as a courier and I have to fill-up every morning. With the prices where they are and going higher everyday. It means that I and my family will be giving up vacations and not spending money on other things.
If the gas prices kept going up I might even have to quit my job. I can`t pay more for gas a day than I make a day!!!!! Do something NOW CONGRESS!!!!!

Gary B. Portland, ORJune 28, 2009 Americans area already paying enough gas tax. Where is it going and for what? The country nearly came to a halt last year and the high price of gas forced many families out of jobs, their homes, all the last straw. Stop spending, live within your means, just like we have to.

Even though they are not taught in the schools any longer, there are still some of us American's that are truely proud of those documents and we will NOT allow to shread the constitution and our freedoms. You need to remember - YOU WORK FOR US. WE GRANTED YOU TIME to work for us, but since you REFUSE to listen to our voices, you will be looking for a job in private sector soon....

Timothy T. Cartersville, GAJune 15, 2009 Really guys? REALLY? I mean every time the gas prices jump a dollar after they seemingly mellow out, everyone just pays it! How long are we going to sit back as Americans and let these people rob us? REGULATION REGULATION REGULATION. Gas is a necessity. Some of us don't live on public transportation routes! It makes me sick to pay these prices for gas, as public transportation is NOT an option. I must have petroleum to survive in today's society. Therefore by default, I was born into a society that is so broad in it's own spectrum that, petroleum is practically MANDATED for me to survive. Thank you baby boomers for blatantly robbing your children of the American dream! Say NO to high gas prices!!!
Rudolf H. San Diego, CAJune 14, 2009 Every market in the U.S. is struggling except for the gasoline market! Stop it now. Supply vs. demand does not affect prices. Stopping the gas prices explosion is more important than universal health care!
edward k. Merrillville, INJune 13, 2009 oil companies are filthy rich they have no compassion and they keep wanting more too say the hell with humanity.
Nancy V. Corona, CAJune 11, 2009 It's sad to realise gas company's agenda is to take money out of the pockets of american's that can not afford it and no one is doing anything about it.

Kristina W. Redding, CAJune 10, 2009 Our family can not afford another gas hike. My husband is a small buisness owner and the gas hike is killing our business. If gas keeps going up my husband will have no choice but to lay off more employees. It makes it real hard to stay in business. Weare stuggling to make ends meet with our business, employees and trying to support a family a home, bills and food. The economy is awful right now, taxes keep going up on everything, now gas is going up. Congress wants to pass an awful bill "cap and trade" I feel Congress wants to break this Country and the people who live in it!
Doug G. Newville, PAJune 10, 2009 Last year a barrel of oil cost 147.00. and was 4.00 a gal. Now it is 65.00 a barrel and cost 3.00 a gal..What is going on ?.With these bad economic times how can the Government alow this !!!.
Carl T. Moody, ALJune 9, 2009 Energy prices were one of the main triggers of this recession we are in right now. Instead of bailouts drill here in US, build refineries, and we will come out in a slow but steady way. These gas prices are making it impossible for me to plan any vacation or purchase any big ticket items. Speculators are killing us and keeping us in this dreadful recession.

Patricia m. Las Vegas, NVJune 6, 2009 I think these prices are NUTS...I'm paying $2.58 for regular & I use about 20 gallons a week(at least) for work & shopping..Pat marino
Bobby W. Amarillo, TXJune 6, 2009 It costs me over $50 to put gas in my pickup. My family can't afford to go out and do anything. This hurts the recovery of all business. I can't afford to make repairs to my house. There is a lot of Oil in Alaska and the pipe line was made to hold three pipes. It has only one. Oil and natural gas could be sent to the lower states. When the Government allowed the oil companies to merge they closed a lot of refineries no new ones were built to take the place of the ones closed. Some of the refineries were closed under lies by the companies. I want to know why this was allowed to happen. Now look at what you created. It is killing this country. Instead of an income Tax why don't you do a sales tax like Texas. This would bring in more money. They people that have more money would pay more in tax because of the items they pay for. I also want to know why the social security can not be paid back for all the money the government has taken from it. Put it back in a separate account pay back the money ( over 800 billion) and see how good of shape it really is in. Also no more money from S.S. goes to immigrants and those who have not paid in.
Michael P. Mount Juliet, TNJune 6, 2009 Previously I was paying around $22/week to drive 60 miles/day back and forth to work. When gas prices went up, I was then paying $58/week last summer/fall. Along with all the food prices, and any material thing bought going up in cost due to trucking price increases due to fuel cost, then we had to cut back on a lot of things we were going to do with our families.
Bobby A. Trona, CAJune 5, 2009 Its just wrong! When the first so called gas shortage happened in the 70s, the small town I lived in close to Bakersfield had several of the old gas stations that were closed were used as storage for gas. My freinds and I watched the tanker trucks come in late at night and fill up the under ground tanks.
I have seen refineries one after another shut down in California. There is no reason for it. California still has oil and lots of it.
Every summer gas prices go up no reason except the oil companys want that extra cash. Their profits haven't been effected by the economy.
Michal E. Littleton, COJune 5, 2009 When Bush was coming out of the White House, gas prices dropped, when Obama came in, they started jumping backup, what's the deal here......
Valerie D. Lake Leelanau, MIJune 5, 2009 Finally I thought we could take a breather this summer from high gas prices and do a little more close to home camping trips but now gas is up to $3.00/ gallon. I work hard and like to wind down on vacation but can't afford to get there anymore.
DJ R. Topeka, KSJune 5, 2009 All the congress and president is concerned about is that the country comes up with alternative energy not what its going to cost the average taxpayer. You would think that if the average taxpayer can barely make ends meet and pay for gas how does the government expect the taxpayer to go out and pay for a new fuel efficent car at the cost of 20 thousand or more, plus the insurance will be outrageous.
Its like bailing out the car dealers and credit card companies, what good is that doing for the average tax payer that pays their bills and works for almost nothing so they can give welfare people cars to drive and insurance free for a year, its sad knowing that the immigrants that are showing up in this country is getting more money from the government than that of the retired U.S. citizen that has worked all their lives.
Garrett B. Cleveland, OHJune 5, 2009 The climate IS NOT IN TROUBLE!!! Its following its natural LACK OF ORDER!!! Drill here and drill now. And build refineries. We need the work.
lois c. Elkton, MDJune 4, 2009 i can barely pay my bills now. I have to plan all travel . Can't afford to go anywhere or do anything. Drill here, drill now. tired of relying on foreighn countries. If Ca. we're drilling they probrably would eliminate their debt. Tired of gov. not listening to the American people. Elections not far off. Maybe then you's will listen.
Judith B. Quitman, ARJune 4, 2009 High gas prices last summer were instrumental in bringing this recession to the depth it is today. Will we see it happen again!!! Stop the speculators!!

natalie l. Lewistown, PAJune 1, 2009 We are loosing jobs left and right. Now we travel to work and are killed by the freaking prices of gas going up every week by 10 cent a gallon . Cindy S. Mountain View, ARMay 24, 2009 My husband is self employed and has to drive hundreds of miles to service his customers. The gas prices from last year have still left us in bad shape fincially and now prices are going back up. Our legistation is in their own world and don't really have any desire to run this country the way the people want. If our congress would let us drill and harvest the oil shale, etc., I know the economy would pick up and the people could have back their American dream. As it is now, We are all stuggeling just to survive and we're all fearful of losing our liberty and freedoms. The government has gotten very arrogant and love their power. I pray the people of this country will be able to take their country back from them. We need to get our self reliance back and use the natural resourses we have here. Why not use the oil we have here? It's the one thing it is good for and it's insane just to let it sit. I could say so much more about all this craziness.
Pat B. Guthrie, KYMay 23, 2009 My husband is self employed and has to drive a lot. He spends from $75.00 to $100.00 per week on gas. Most of his work is done within a 25 to 30 mile radius. This cuts into our budget a lot. Gas prices here have gone up 40 cents within the last month.
Steven A. May 23, 2009 Yet another Memorial Day weekend and we're being ripped off with inflated gas prices! We have plenty of oil, electric cars just indirectly burn more COAL, that's how most of our electricity is produced. LOWER OUR GAS PRICES!!!

father, 2 uncles, brother, sister, brother-in-law , & my
husband have worked,or are currently working in the oil
industry. My husband works for an oil refinery & is
always frustrated about the numerous regulations/ restrictions placed upon them. These regs cost the
refinery money, not to mention the bureaucracy it creates--
costing even more taxpayer money.
